Our mission is to influence hauora systems by holding the Crown to account for improved quality, access, and outcomes for whānau Māori.

He tohu aroha

Te Tauraki wishes to thank, remember, acknowledge, and pay tribute to the incredible work, passion, dedication, advocacy, aroha, support, and commitment of Norm Dewes. Norm, you were a great chief and a champion of the people. We will continue to speak your words, requiring the Crown agencies to “communicate, co-operate, co-ordinate and collaborate” and to work together for the benefit of the people. Your work for the community will never be forgotten.

E te Rangatira, te Pou Aumangea, mokemoke ana mātou i tō wehenga atu.

He nui te aroha mōu. E kore mātou e wareware tō mahi kia hapahāpai i ngā hapori. Okioki ai ki te taha o ōu tīpuna kei tua atu i te ārai o te miru pō.

Whānau voice

As the Iwi-Māori Partnership Board (IMPB) for the Ngāi Tahu Takiwā, the primary obligations of Te Tauraki are to Papatipu Rūnanga, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and whānau Māori within the Ngāi Tahu Takiwā.

Te Tauraki is about honouring and continuing the mahi of our tūpuna to foster health and wellbeing for whānau. As an IMPB, Te Tauraki acknowledges the rangatiratanga of Ngāi Tahu and Papatipu Rūnanga as mana whenua. Consistent with Ngāi Tahu values, Te Tauraki will show manaaki and support for ngā mātāwaka, who continue to help Te Waipounamu thrive as a dynamic and inclusive place to live.  Te Tauraki will advocate for communities that are impacted by health inequities.

Te Tauraki will regularly review its progress, the broader environment, and government policy, and listen to what whānau Māori are saying, to ensure it is taking the right steps for the hauora and wellbeing of whānau Māori in the Ngāi Tahu Takiwā.
